Since I am using smaller yarn,I would like to make sets of 4 instead of 3…how many should I chain to start?

i started doing this and it started to flare really badly! i was soooooo sad cuz i love the pattern. how do i fix that? i ended up doing a different pattern but my boyfriend definitely liked this one more.
@thatkat07 You would just have more colors. It would work fine!
@tjw1963 how would the pattern or stitch change if u wanted to add colors to lets say 5 colors in all.

@suz8879 Yes,you can carry the yarn if you are working an edging.
Teresa,could u just carry the yarn up if u were going to use the hdc all the way around as edging? If not y not?
